Half Day Conference to Celebrate the Centenary of the Edinburgh Conference (often held to be the beginning of the modern ecumenical movement)

Guest Speaker: The Revd Dr Keith Clements. His address is entitled "Edinburgh 1910 Bath 2010: Challenges of Mission and Unity". Also workshops/shared picnic lunch/worship.

  Friday to Sunday 3 -5 September -  A Study Weekend
AWAKE TO GOD: Explorations in the Mystical Way
Awake to God is the title of The Revd Canon Melvyn Matthews' latest book. In it he attempts to bring together the different themes of self-emptying and participation, which postmodern theologians have brought back into the conversation about God.  Melvyn Matthews, a former director of Ammerdown, has retired as Canon and Chancellor of Wells Cathedral.

Saturday 27 November   ASPECTS OF CREATION
Emeritus Professor Frances Young of Birmingham University will consider aspects of creation, including the idea of creation out of nothing and where it came from, creation in the Bible and creation and evolution. Her books include academic and more popular theological writing, drawing on her work on the New Testament and on Christianity in its formative years.

All meetings  are held at The Ammerdown Centre, Radstock BA3  5SW   Tel: 01761 433709.
Day meetings are from 10:0am to 3:30pm and are free. Please  book a place at  all meetings.  Lunch at day meetings and accommodation for the Study Weekend must be booked in advance.

MANVERS STREET BAPTIST CHURCH OCTOBER FESTIVAL
A Month of Thanksgiving

 To worship God in a spirit of gratitude.
To celebrate our church and city.
To proclaim the Christian way.

Week One
10.30 am Sunday 3 October
Harvest Thanksgiving and Lunch. This will have the theme of 'The gift of Life' and the Adam's Apple Jazz Trio  will be with us.

 7.30 pm Monday 4 October
Ernest Lucas recently retired as Vice -Principal of Bristol Baptist College will speak on the harvest theme in relation to new advances in scientific understanding of the origins of life.

Saturday 9 October 7.00pm
We have a Concert where performers from the Lunch time Thursday concerts we hold at Manvers Street Baptist Church will combine to make an evening of music variety.

 Week Two
10.30 Sunday 10 October
10-10-10 Sunday focussing on Christians response to the environmental discord of our planet.

 7.30 pm Saturday 16 October
We have a Birthday Party which will celebrate all our own birthdays and that of our church.

10.30 am Sunday 17 October
Church Anniversary Communion Service. The preacher is Paul Goodliff from the Ministry Department of the Baptist Union.

A feature of this weekend will be : Where are they now? - an opportunity to catch up with people who were once part of our congregation.

 7.30 pm Monday 18 October
Kerry Birch will speak on the subject of his latest book Waters of the Son -Baptists in Georgian Bath

 Week Four
10.30 Sunday 24 October
Civic Service: This will have the theme Bath at Work The Mayor Shaun McGall will be present with people from the commercial world in Bath. There will be a display from the Museum of Bath at Work and a talk from its Director, a recital as part of the Sweetman Organ Celebration and the preacher is Sarah Parry who has experience of being a city church minister in London.

 10.30 Sunday 31 October
Anne Wilkinson-Hayes will preach at the morning service.
